Pickerelweed at Chapel Trail

I photographed one of the many stalks of purple flowers that grow in the wetlands at Chapel Trail Nature Preserve in Pembroke Pines. I try to research the flowers, insects or birds I encounter while visiting local parks but was having trouble identifying this one, so I posted it on the Plant Identification Group's site and asked for help.

Someone advised that the plant was likely a pickerelweed. Naturally, I then googled pickerelweed and almost immediately came across a poem about Chapel Trail Nature Preserve, the very place I found this aquatic plant. The poem really seems to capture the quiet spirit of the 450-acre preserve, so I've included a link above for anyone who would like to read the poem.
